Why is my computer running so slow and how can I make PC faster? This is one of the most common questions that lots of PC users ask recently even though they are able to find thousands of solutions on the web. In a vast majority of cases, your computer will be running slow due to some virus/spyware infection, too many unneeded programs/startup items or registry issues, etc. Believe me or not, the simple steps here will help to make PC faster instantly.

First of all, you should cut down some useless startup items when asking “why is my computer running so slow”. When installing programs on the computer, some will automatically add an entry to startup options to run as windows startup. The more programs loading at system starts, the slower the computer will be. So it is necessary for you to turn off some unwanted startup options: go to Star -> Run -> type msconfig to access Startup, and then disable the entries that do not need to automatically run at windows startup. By doing this, the computer will be at least 30% faster than before.
Secondly, well protect your computer again viruses and spyware. It is very easy for your computer to be infected by viruses and spyware even though it is used only for daily use. Once your computer is infected, lots of system resource will be wasted up by those infections. In this way, when there is not enough resource for the computer or program to start up, the computer run desperately slowly and shows some kinds of PC errors just like libeay32.dll error and a blue screen with Kernel_data_inpage_error. So it is better that you can always check your computer for any infections or malicious files hidden in your computer and delete them immediately. By the way, you have to make your virus definitions up-to-date by updating all available versions.
Thirdly, the computer may be slow because of a faulty program you have installed earlier on the computer as they will not only take up hard disk space, but also waste up system memory. If this happens, you can make PC faster by uninstalling some useless programs. But it is recommended that you can uninstall programs with an advanced program uninstall tool as they are designed to completely uninstall all components of the unwanted software both from the PC hard disk and the registry database. If you would like to uninstall those products manually, it is better that you can scan and clean all leftover registry entries with a registry clean tool after the manual uninstallation job.
Furthermore, to make computer run faster, you can clean the Prefetch Cache. To do this, just enter the C:WINDOWS/Prefetch folder and delete all of the PF Files. Reboot your computer and it will boot much faster. Also, to ensure the faster system startup, it is recommended that you should regularly defragment your hard disk by running the Windows built-in Disk Defragmenter and remove all unneeded Internet temporary files with the Disk Cleanup tool.
Finally, fix registry errors inside your system. Lots of computer users will ignore this tip when trying to make computer run faster and smoother. First of all, it is necessary for you to understand that registry errors are most of the time the main cause of the slow computer performance. Hence, the last effective way to fix slow computer is to remove registry errors immediately either manually or automatically with a trusted registry cleaning product. Registry is regarded as the brain component of computer system to control the proper running of the computer and all programs installed so that it is better to maintain them regularly to prevent serious errors from occurring on your computer.
