How to Uninstall CA Etrust Antivirus From Your PC

Last weekend, my friend told me when he tried to run the CA Etrust, an error massage popped up “Please wait while windows configures CA ETrust Antivirus”. Actually, the error message came up because the antivirus software is corrupted on his computer. So, all he need to do is completely uninstall CA Etrust Antivirus, please follow the instruction below.

The normal way to uninstall Ca etrust antivirus:

1. Reinstall the software on your computer.
2. Uninstall Ca antivirus with Add or Remove Programs on Control Panel with the following instruction:

Go to the Start menuControl Panel and select the Add or Remove Programshighlight the Ca antivirus program icon to make the button of Change or Remove appear.Then click the “Remove” button to start the removalFollow the onscreen steps to finish the removal

Forcibly uninstall the left over entries of the antivirus program in the hard drive with a software remover as below listed:

1. Uninstall the directory,C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite, on your computer.
2. Uninstall the 12 files below,

C:\WINDOWS\AVShlExt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\unicows.dll
C:\WINDOWS\UnVet32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ISafeIf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iSafProd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\VetRedir.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Vet-Filt.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Vet-Rec.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\VetEBoot.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\VetEFile.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\VetFDDNT.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\vetmonnt.sys

After finishing all the uninstall process with one of the method above, delete this registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Computer Associates, in the Registry Editor.
