Computer keeps shutting down – Why computer shuts down randomly & how to fix it?

Does your computer keep shutting down? Do you want your computer to run smoothly all the time without any shutdown errors or blue screen errors? Yeah, it is very annoying to see the computer keeps shutting down randomly without warning. If this has suddenly started to happen and appear frequently, then there must be something wrong with your computer, either hardware or software.

As what I have said previously, there are two main causes of computer keeps shutting down error – hardware & software problems. In order to effectively fix the issue, you need to identify which part of your PC is causing the errors on your system, and to do that, you must first restart your system in “safe mode”. To do this, restart your PC and press F8 to load your computer in safe mode… and this will load up Windows without any of the cumbersome drivers and software that can cause random computer shutdowns. It’s a great way to identify exactly what is causing a computer to shut down randomly and the bottom line is that if your system crashes in safe mode, it will most likely down to a hardware problem rather than software.

If the problem was caused by software, check and uninstall some recently-installed programs. Have you recently installed a device or made any changes to your Device Manager before the random computer shutdown problems appeared? If so, the problem might be caused by the changes that you have ever made. So to fix the computer shutdown issue, undo the change if possible and restart your computer to see whether the problem has been solved. By the way, it is best that you can uninstall all unwanted programs from the computer.

Thirdly, clean up disk errors. Occasional computer shutdowns and power interruptions may cause errors in your hard disk that accumulate over time and cause your computer to shut down at any time. This problem can be easily remedied by running a Disk Check to remove any errors that are clogging your hard disk, getting it to run smoothly once again, and freeing up some needed disk space. Fortunately, the Windows OS comes with a Disk Check program created especially for this.

Fourthly, you should improve computer performance by defragmenting computer hard drives. This will help your hard drive run much more efficiently and prevent the computer keeps shutting down error. If you haven’t defragmented in awhile, we would recommend running the windows defrag multiple times. To Defragment your hard drive, please follow these steps: Open up “My Computer” -> Right Click on C: -> Click “Properties” -> Click the “Tools” Tab -> Click “Defragment Now” -> Click “Defragment” -> Click “OK”.

Lastly, clean up Windows registry. The Windows registry plays an important role in Windows Vista system running for it functions in storing and managing the system and software settings for Windows-based operating systems including the system kernel, device drivers, system services, SAM, user interface and third party programs. Any error in the registry or irregular computer shutdown errors, accumulation of the registry errors has the ability to lead to severe system problems, including unexpectedly popped- up Blue Screen of Death errors, sudden system shutdown and critical system component corrupt. Once you clean up the registry, the problems above can be solved totally.

The specifics and step-by-step details above helps you to check your whole system & deal with all errors causing the computer keeps shutting down problems instantly. In my opinion, if you take the solutions here and scan your computer with a registry cleaner tool, then you can clean out all errors inside the registry database and computer quickly.
