The error 404 or Not Found error message is a HTTP standard response code to tell you that the client was able to communicate with the server properly, but the server fails to find the request correctly. On a web page, it will typically generate “404 Error – Not Found” when users attempt to follow a broken or dead link.     Every time I select a search engine (any) the homepage or search results show only 404 error. This occurs with all browsers on my computer and only applies to search engines. I love your post very much as it solves the issue for me soon.

    I changed my website to another hosting company as well as changed my software. Google indexed hundreds of pages on my old website which now show a 404 error on my new website. Followed your solutions here to go and now I was able to visit my favorite pages without problems.
